Formed in 2010, Junction 280 has undergone many changes in its makeup and sound. Beginning in late 2016, we “reformed” and are now comprised of Robbie Laughter on Banjo, Cliff Searcy on Dobro & Mandolin, Taylor Warren on Fiddle & Guitar and Barry Walker on Upright Bass. Utilizing the unique contributions of its members, the band has stepped up to a different level. Taylor Warren, a longtime son of Mills River, lends his fiddle expertise and unique voice to the band. Cliff Searcy is a delightful musician who keeps everyone on their toes, and adds wonderful humor to the mix. Original members Robbie Laughter on Banjo (and one of the few banjo players who can sing while playing) and Barry Walker holding down the rhythm on Bass, round out this exciting new rendition of Junction 280.
The group is booking limited gigs at venues in the Henderson County area, playing traditional bluegrass, Americana, folk, rock and gospel music. One thing that stands out to most folks who experience Junction 280 is that “these boys have a lot of fun” and “aim to entertain their audience” with solid vocals and instrumental ability.
